She's always been a slight woman, rarely exceeding 130 pounds in all her womanly fluctuations, which at times has made her defined jaw stand out starkly from her body in a most alien way. The proportions of her face are evened out by dark brown hair that naturally falls in lanky waves, just enough to give her hair a little bit of texture but not enough to give her a wild, Amazonian beauty. Her face is the most striking part about her, with thin brows that arch elegantly over eyes that used to be a clear blue-green but now range from a highly-saturated crimson to a pit of blackness. Her nose is not particularly remarkable, bearing no unusual length or width, nor strange nostrils. Her lips are a well-defined bow, thinner than some would consider beautiful but the way they can curve into a pout, a smirk or a snarl is quite seductive. In life she had a golden tan from her time spent outdoors that was rarely flushed with excitement or embarrassment, but "death" has faded it to a slightly translucent cream-color, not quite so pale as to draw attention to herself, but enough that she is considered light-skinned in most places that she visits. Her lean frame does not appear to be exceptionally strong, though it cannot be denied that there is a certain air of power that exudes from her. Whether it is physical or emotional strength is left up to the interpreter. =================================== STRENGTHS: Intelligent - This vampire is smart, as one would expect, and she was also smart as a human. She can learn quite easily from observation and catches on quickly to new ideas, which is a large part of how she's been able to thrive despite the changing times. Seductive - Josephine gets most of her prey by seducing them, making her something of a black widow type. She is well aware of the enhanced abilities of vampires and puts them to good use to draw in her intended meals, leaving them next to powerless to resist her. Independent - Josephine would have never gotten so far if she was not so independent. Once she'd learned all she could from the man who had changed her she took her leave of him and set out on her own, never once desiring the company of her fellows. Poised - Grace is something that all vampires possess and Josephine is no exception. She also flaunts a great control of her emotions, appearing stoic and well-mannered until someone touches a nerve and incites her wrath. WEAKNESSES: Quick-tempered - Josephine fights to keep control of herself and is usually quite successful with the one exception of her temper. Anger flares fast and brutally in this one, but it usually does not linger for long. Reckless - Josephine can all too easily become too involved in chasing down her next kill, allowing her to forget herself. She has come close many times to exposing herself but has thus far been lucky. Vain - This female has put far too much stock into her appearance. Perhaps it was the males who had thwarted her as a human, but she takes great care to put herself together each day and jibes at her appearance are taken far too personally. However, her vanity benefits her in that she hates the purple shadows that form under her eyes when she goes too long between feedings so that she feeds nearly every other day, which keeps her strength up. TALENTS: She has a knack for imitating voices and mannerisms, something she used to do for comedic purposes as a human. POWER: Mask appearance - Josephine can instantly mask her appearance but it is limited to changes in hair color, eye color and a difference of 50 pounds either way in weight. She cannot alter her height or her clothing and cannot extend to mask anyone else's appearance. She can only hold the mask for up to 2 hours before it disappears and that is when she really concentrates. When she is not fully concentrated, it is harder for her to keep up the facade. It comes in handy when she needs to make a quick getaway but anyone who looked closely at her would still recognize her. =================================== BORNIN: Kansas City, MO LIVING IN: nomad, keeps mostly to the Northern states ranging from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and North & South Dakota FAMILY: none that's still alive, she's a loner HISTORY: When Josephine Dawn Pryor was born to doctor Johnathan Joseph Pryor and his wife, Betty Mae Pryor, Kansas City was young in the terms of being official, having only been incorporated since 1848. This was not so young, however, that the Victorian society had not taken some hold on the blooming city, leaving women in a prison of strict laws of etiquette and men in equally binding codes that largely sought to pretend as if sex did not exist. As a young woman growing into a moderately wealthy family, Josephine was taught all the laws about appropriate behavior with young men who might come to court her. However, she was not always as meek as she should be and she was frequently found outside beyond the eyes of her mother and other chaperones, though she was never improper. Sunshine was just something she enjoyed far too much. It resulted in a much darker skintone than most of the young ladies of her time and to some it made her undesirable, but to others it only made her more coveted. Josephine would not get the life that her parents always wished for her. They worried at first when she did not marry by her 18th birthday, but some small part of them was happy for the extra opportunity to raise her in the proper traditions and customs. When she was twenty three she began to be courted by an older gentleman, wealthy both by birth and by his own hand. He owned a small bank in town, but his parents had left him a large inheritance when they'd passed unexpectedly. Nothing would come of this, however, as on a New Year's Eve celebration at the turn of the century, Josephine would turn up missing. The Pryors were not important in society and the older man thought Josephine had surely run away, being as old as she was. Of course the truth of the matter was much different. Josephine had been attacked by one of several vampires in Kansas City. She was supposed to have been a meal for the man, but he was distracted by the sound of a group of drunkards coming his way and his brain was in such a state that he left Josephine just after biting her, more worried about revealing himself than finishing her off. He stayed close, watching and waiting for the men to wander off while the young woman writhed in agony as the fire of the vampire venom ripped through her veins. Somehow she suffered in silence, but perhaps she knew that the man who had attacked her was close and she knew that he would surely kill her if she cried out. And such was her lust for life, her vanity, her longing for something beyond the life that she was forced to live that she would take this pain over death. As he watched her, he thought that if he could control those first months of insatiable thirst he could have a mate, a female powerful enough to assist him and who would perhaps be subservient to him. After the men left, Ezekiel, as he was called, brought Josephine to his home and waited for the transformation to become complete. As expected, Josephine felt a raging hunger burning at the pit of her stomach the moment the pain eased from her body. If not for those hunger pangs she would have thought herself dead. Under Ezekiel's supervision she hunted, her first feed being on a shabby drunk passed out in an alley. To this day she still cannot get the taste of him out of her mouth and it is only in the most desperate of times that she will drink from a man with such foulness in his bloodstream. Ezekiel trained Josephine how to hunt inconspicuously, choosing victims that would be easily overlooked, and the basic rules of her new life. He showed her the new abilities that she now possessed, hoping she would be so grateful that she would stay with him forever and follow his every command. But Josephine was smart and she could sense that he was using her, a fact she kept carefully mum about. Once she felt in control of herself, she left him. He tried to persuade her to stay but her temper quickly flared and she had not quite outgrown her newborn strength. She bested him easily, though she did feel debted to him just enough that she spared his life and fled Kansas City as fast as she could. She turned north, feeding in the larger towns she came across, never stopping for more than a week at a time. It was as if she was searching for something, but there was nothing in particular that Josephine wanted. She had freedom and that was all she needed. And power. We can't forget the power. Josephine began to slow eventually, lingering here and there for sometimes as long as a month, but the second she grew bored or there was talk about someone going missing, she moved on, using her unique power of deception to instantly change her appearance long enough to get out of town without anyone recognizing her. It was a power she had discovered accidentally while trying to lure a victim in, thinking about how she could get his attention. She knew the instant that his eyes flew wide in horror that something was different and so after she had finished feeding, she took a glance in the mirror and saw the change that had overcome her. From what she had learned from Ezekiel she thought that this perhaps stemmed from her childhood talent for imitation, something that had come in handy to make the other children laugh and had served her later in life by helping her perfectly imitate her teachers so that she was the perfect little lady. Josephine has only turned one other vampire. It was an experiment to her, to see firstly if she could do it and if it was something she would enjoy. She was very pleased in the amount of control she had over her urges and watching the young man change, his face contorted in the most extreme agony, gave her a thrill of sadistic pleasure. However her newborn was not nearly as independent as she had been and she quickly tired of his puppyish way of following her around. She left him before she could kill him, just a few months after his transformation and she has no idea or care as to if he is still alive or how he turned out. She doesn't even recall his name. =================================== ALIAS: Cheyenne HOWYOUFOUNDUS: through a series of affiliates stemming from a Google search OTHERCHARACTERS: none yet RP SAMPLE: The bar was wonderfully warm, warding off the chill of autumn turning into winter. Not that Josephine cared all that much about warmth. No matter how long she sat in that bar her skin would not reheat. She would never hold that pretty pink flush in her cheeks, nor the fluttering heart of a girl in love. All things considered, Josephine thought she was doing well for herself. She was not so weak as to need a man. Well...not for that purpose anyways. Her molten gaze swept the dimly-lit building, concentrating on scouting out a potential...dinner guest. Yes, a dinner guest. Her lips twitched upwards into a smug smile at that thought. Oh her parents would be so proud to see their little girl finally inviting a man over for supper. Too bad he was going to be dinner. Josephine wove through the bodies on the bar's surprisingly crowded dance floor, very careful not to touch anyone with her icy hands, though anyone she did brush against would assume she had just arrived and was still cold from being outside. But she'd been here a good hour or so. She always lost track of the more minute passages of time. When you'd seen decades come and go without any direct effect on oneself, an hour hardly seemed consequential. Tonight the young female vampire had chosen chestnut brown hair, a rich mixture of orange and red tones that was just shy of being called auburn. And though her eyes were pools of blood, she did not frighten the human she approached as those too had been disguised. Instead of her thirsty gaze, the man with a five o'clock shadow was captivated by a pair of bright green eyes, clear and vibrant in the center and a dark forest green along the edges of the iris. She was exotic-looking, but not so much so that she would not fit into this more homely atmosphere. She turned demure when she caught his gaze at long last, quirking her lips seductively and using that unfair advantage of hers to hold his attention and silently beckon him forward. As soon as he was close enough, she leaned towards him, her sultry voice sounding in his ear. "Why don't we go someplace quiet to talk? I'd like to get to know you better." She pulled away and her smile became that little bit more earnest as she saw his chest inflate with self-importance and a triumphant gleam appear in his eye. He had come alone to the bar and was certainly not the most attractive man there by any stretch of the imagination. He was probably a loner, a bachelor or a divorcee whose wife had long since moved on and left him with nothing but pathetic memories. Not that she cared about his past. No, Josephine only cared about the quickly approaching, not-so-distant future. She inhaled deeply, her eyes momentarily rolling back into her skull. His was a musky scent, masculine, woody, not the one that nearly drove her wild with desire, but a treat nonetheless. She led him away from the bar and to her apartment, holding the door open for him and gesturing to make himself comfortable on her red couch. And as she approached him, her eyes shone crimson. She could still hear herself laughing. |
